Job Summary: The role of the GIS (Geographic Information System) Analyst is to provide mapping and other technical services to Inlailawatash clients and staff. The GIS Analyst primarily supports the production of geospatial deliverables associated with use and occupancy studies, natural resource, and archaeological projects.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and produce thematic maps that effectively communicate spatial information.
- Design user-friendly interactive web maps in ArcGIS Online that enable data exploration and dynamic visualizations.
- Research, assemble, verify, and summarize data. Ensuring continuity, integrity, and compliance with standards.
- Scan, geo reference and digitize features from paper and mylar maps.
- Review and validate GIS data for accuracy and completeness.
- Create, maintain, and analyze spatial and attribute databases.
- Setup and manage geospatial tools to support field reconnaissance.
- Construct visual materials for meetings, proposals, reports, conferences, and presentations.
- Apply prescribed techniques and procedures in accordance with established criteria to perform assigned tasks.
- Performs basic tasks with supervision & close checking. Seeking assistance on various tasks.
- Maintain and create documentation of processes and methodologies.
- Identify opportunities to enhance workflows and increase efficiency.
- Assist with other projects and duties as required.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Knowledge of, and respect for, First Nations history, culture, and socio-economic contexts; keen interest in working for an Indigenous business seen as essential. Previous experience working in a First Nations community and/or business is an asset.
- Bachelor’s degree or Diploma in GIS, Mapping, or Geomatics.
- Experience working in GIS and Mapping consulting is an asset.
- Experience in ESRI Suite, Microsoft Office Suite, and other relevant software applications.
- Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a dynamic environment.
- Organized self-starter with attention to detail.
- Adaptive to tight deadlines, changing priorities, and team requests.
- Valid BC Driver’s License and vehicle
Travel: Limited travel may be required for meetings or training.
Working Hours: 35 hours per week, occasional overtime as required.
Compensation: $33-$36/hr CAD; plus Extended Health Benefits & Pension Plan
