Job Summary
We are seeking a collaborative, detail-oriented Archaeology Project Manager to oversee Archaeological Overview Assessments (AOAs) and Archaeological Impact Assessments (AIAs). Working alongside Permit Holders and Project Managers, you will handle client relationships, manage project budgets, deliver technical reporting on schedule, and mentor junior staff.

Key Responsibilities
Project & Budget Management
- Project Execution: Coordinate, manage, and execute assigned projects under the direction of the Senior Archaeologist & Manager.
- Portfolio Ownership: Manage a selected portfolio of small-scale to complex ILP projects, guiding the team and providing constructive feedback.
- Financial Tracking: Partner with the Archaeology Coordinator to track project budgets, compile cost estimates, and review invoices.
Fieldwork & Regulatory Operations
- Logistics: Coordinate and carefully plan field crew logistics and upcoming fieldwork activities.
- Regulatory Compliance: Produce heritage permit applications for submission to the Archaeology Branch (S.12.2 and S.12.4) and First Nations under the BC Heritage Conservation Act.
Research & Reporting
- Technical Writing: Lead background research and author high-quality, rigorous reports for various archaeological and heritage-related projects.
- Analysis: Actively participate in laboratory and mapping analyses.
- System: Updating and uploading files into the Archaeology Branch System (APTS)
- Review: Leading literature research relating to proposed development areas via RAAD (Remote Access to Archaeological Data) and PARL
(Provincial Archaeological Report Library)
Collaboration & Mentorship
- Team Growth: Delegate specific tasks to staff and mentor junior team members.
- Admin Support: Assist senior management with administrative tasks and day-to-day communication.
- Cross-Functional Communication: Support and effectively respond to interdepartmental and external communications (clients, regulatory bodies, and Indigenous communities).
Performs other related duties as assigned, consistent with the scope and level of the position.
Qualifications & Skills
- Education: Bachelor’s degree (B.A. or B.Sc.) in Archaeology, Anthropology, or a related field; a Master’s degree is preferred.
- Experience: Minimum 3–5 years of progressive experience in cultural resource management (CRM), with proven project coordination or management experience.
- Regulatory Knowledge: Strong working knowledge of the BC Heritage Conservation Act (HCA) and First Nations cultural heritage policies.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in MS Office, digital data collection tools, and mapping workflows (GIS experience is a strong asset).
- Licence: A valid BC Class 5 Driver’s License.
- Certificates: Occupational First Aid Level 1
