Inlailawatash has an established and highly regarded Vegetation Management program with an experienced team of Certified Utility Arborists, Apprentice Arborists and Saw Operators. Inlailawatash is a Primary Contractor for BC Hydro’s Transmission Vegetation Management Program for the North Shore Region, operating between North Vancouver and Pemberton / D’Arcy.

The Manager will join a dynamic team of professionals and will be responsible for all operations of the Vegetation Management Business Unit of Inlailawatash, reporting directly to the Executive / CEO. The Manager has a key role in leading the Vegetation Management program, including supervising and mentoring staff and work crews, managing contractual obligations and client relationships, monitoring financial performance, developing proposals, leading projects, developing strategy, and driving business expansion and growth. There is potential for this role to become a Senior Manager role. The role is primarily office based but involves regular site visits in the field, including to remote access locations.

 Delivery of the Vegetation Management program, including operations and logistics coordination; managing staff and work crews; contract management and client relationships
 Management of the contract with BC Hydro for Transmission Vegetation Management Services (currently $2m+ revenue p.a.), including all aspects of performance delivery and business growth
 Management of key internal programs, including: Health and Safety Program; SAFE Certification; Quality Assurance; HR, Training and Development
 Driving business development, growth and diversification across the Vegetation Management program
 Ensuring the financial performance of the Vegetation Management program, including developing and reporting on budgets and monitoring financial systems

 Responsible for a staff of approximately eleven (11) people, plus management of subcontractors associated with the Vegetation Management program area

For this role, we are seeking the following qualifications:
 Undergraduate or Masters program relating to natural resource management or related field
 Minimum 5 years of relevant professional and business experience in aboriculture, urban forestry, chainsaw-based vegetation management and/or natural resource management (other combinations of education and experience will be considered)
 Professional designation relevant to the Vegetation Management program area (e.g. ISA Arborist; Certified Utility Arborist; RPF) is a major asset
 Demonstrated understanding of First Nation’s history, culture, heritage values, and perspectives
 Previous experience working with or for a First Nations community, business and/or organization is preferred
 Demonstrated ability for providing leadership in a team environment; experience managing and leading work crews in a physical outdoor industry is a major asset
 Experience in running/working for a small business and demonstrated ability to manage finances and budgets
 Demonstrated ability to consistently make good strategic decisions in accordance with company values and objectives
 Demonstrated ability for building and maintaining effective client and stakeholder relationships
 Program and project management experience, with strong planning and organizational skills
 Attention to detail and ability to write high-quality proposals and bid responses in a timely manner
 Demonstrated ability in Health and Safety program management, with the ability to develop, implement and manage safety protocols and procedures in coordination with work crews
 Must have a valid BC Driver’s Licence (Class 5) and willing to travel locally with occasional work away from home for short periods at a time
